Remember to apply to 3-K by May 28!

Image did not load.

Dear parent/guardian,

If you are a New York City resident and your child was born in 2018, remember to apply to 3-K by May 28

  • All families citywide can apply to 3-K for All programs, but seats are limited and residents of 3-K for All school districts have priority to attend programs in their own district.
  • In every NYC school district, there are free or low cost 3-K programs available to families who qualify based on income and needs. These Extended Day/Year programs, including Head Start, offer year-round care for up to 10 hours a day. Learn more about eligibility at nyc.gov/3K.

Please note that 3-K admissions is not first come, first served. All applications submitted by the May 28 deadline will be treated the same.

You can apply to up to 12 program choices on your child’s 3-K application. To learn about 3-K options, use MySchools to search for programs on your phone or computer with MySchools: you can find programs by name, location, language needs, program setting, and more. There are four different 3-K program settings:

  • NYC Early Education Centers are community-based organizations that contract with the DOE to provide 3-K.

  • Some district schools offer 3-K programs.

  • Pre-K Centers are run by DOE staff and only offer grades before kindergarten.

  • Family child care, or home-based programs offer 3-K in a home setting by a licensed, qualified child care provider.

You can apply to 3-K one of two ways:

  1. Online

  2. By phone at 718-935-2009. Call us Monday through Friday, 8am – 6pm.

Questions? We’re here to help. Email us at ESEnrollment@schools.nyc.gov.
